A Blue Ribbon Year at Indian Rock
Filled with activities and fun, the 10th year at the 1858 Schoolhouse on Mygatt Road in Amenia was a true prizewinner!
Why does Indian Rock Schoolhouse always win the popularity contest? Some say, “Indian Rock Schoolhouse is located in a small and tightly knit community in the Harlem Valley, where many families have lived for generations! It is a great place to see old friends and meet new ones.” Others say, “Lots of people have worked very hard over the last 10 years – Indian Rock has great volunteers, members and donors.”
It could be that the Webutuck School District and several area private schools – including Maplebrook and Kildonan – have encouraged the participation of their students and created a love of learning. The programs for children are outstanding! Our volunteers visit organizations and senior centers with “trunk shows” – collections of fascinating objects from the past.
Whatever the reasons, the 10th anniversary year has been especially successful for the little 1858
schoolhouse on Mygatt Road in Amenia.
